I'm beyond devastated to find out El Cochinito has closed its doors. I've been going here for years and it was the rare restaurant where everything on the menu was amazing. My girlfriend and I would come here all the time and it felt like home for us. Nothing will quite describe the feeling of ordering a four course meal and having our waitress offer us a batch of croquetas on the house! We loved this place and we felt loved by it. I'll miss the food, the photos on the walls, the Latin jazz playing from the kitchen and the staff who always made sure each visit was as memorable as the last. If you ever open your doors again or move elsewhere, just know Bella and I will travel to wherever you're serving your pollo a la plancha, arroz con pollo, flan and arroz con leche. We'll miss you until then
We have been supoorting El Cochinito since my daughter was a toddler, she is now 25. We are beyond sad to have learned of its sudden closure. This is my message to the owners of El Cochinito, the rumor is that the closure was due to a family dispute, please don't forget about the rest of us your family (your loyal customers who have built lovely memories over the years at your restaurant) I propose to the following: COME BACK WE MISS YOU!! Do I need to start a petition ? Needless to say, this spot is (was) THE. Best. Cuban. Food in Los Angeles. I am truly hoping for a come back
Amazing spot! Highly recommend for lunch or dinner. I went here twice in a weekend because it was just that good. It's a small spot, so I would recommend making a reservation especially for dinner time. The service was nice and ambiance was hip but homey. Tip: get the tres leches for dessert!
Came here after we were told this is THE PLACE for Cuban food. We got a few things and I'll break it down. Croquetas: divine. Perfect lil way to start. Pollo empanizado was the real star here. That and the beans and rice. I prefer them separate and not congri (mixed together) so you can mix them together fresh. Got the tostones but next time will load up on more croquetas. The flan was delicious. I'm used to Mexican flan that is a more jello consistency. This one is more like cheesecake and sweet and ooo highly recommend! Service was quick and friendly and wonderful. Interior is cute there are a few tables and one or two outside but inside is where it's at. There's a lot for parking but be warned sometimes it's full sometimes it's not so get there early to prepare for that. They take reservations but it wasn't too packed when we went but given its size highly recommend doing so. All in all will return to try their sandwiches!
Noooooooo I cant believe it closed and I just found out 6 months later. One of my favorite LA restaurants. Now I have even less of a reason to ever move back. I will forever dream about another pollo empenazado with sweet plantains and black beans and rice.
